Hi! and welcome to my Easy Organic Gardening web site. My name is Ray Lang and I have been an organic gardener and farmer in Texas for over 20 years. My desire is to pass along to others interested in organic gardening knowledge and some helpful tips to make their organic gardening experience easy, fun and profitable (in terms of production). You have come to the right place if you are looking for information on organic gardening for beginners. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you are a seasoned organic gardener I hope you will learn something new here and you are always welcome to contribute and share your gardening tips and experience. We welcome your knowledge.
You will find information on maximizing your soil type, garden designs, organic fertilizers, care of plants, plant selection, seed selection, and a wide variety of resources and other topics including books and book reviews.
WHAT IS ORGANIC GARDENING, ANYWAY?
In the What Is Organic Gardening Anyway? area I present the big picture and pull its parts together to lead the reader to knowledge of how to grow the healthiest, most nutritious vegetables and herbs. I show you how to best use your individual soil with its native microorganisms in combination with with sensible fetilization and watering.
You will also find a conversation on my controversial opinion that "Organic does not necessarily = nutritious" when it comes to our food. I will tell you why that is true and what you can do to insure that you are growing the most nutritious vegetables in your organic garden.
RAISED BEDS, ANYONE?
In the organic garden design area I will give you ideas on the many different approaches to creating an area to garden. Many people are interested in gardening in raised beds. I will give you the benefit of my experiences with this and other ways to create a garden. I will show you how to save time and money and have a beautiful and functional garden. There are many photos of other folk's organic gardens to help you with ideas.
FINALLY I CAN GET MY HANDS DIRTY!
And then of course I will help you with seed and plant selection, planting tips, etc. through growing and harvesting your fresh produce. I use many helpful photos and illustrations to explain what I am teaching. All of this to make your organic gardening experience fun and easy.
FERTILIZERS, FERTILIZERS AND THEN MORE FERTILIZERS (YAWN)
The topic of organic fertilizers can be very confusing. There are so many different types of fertilizers and ways to apply them it can be difficult to know what will work for your situation and what is just a waste of time and money. I will help you sort through this maze and narrow it down to what will work best for you in your garden.
YO! THESE BUGS ARE BUGGING ME!
Another area that can be confusing to work through is what to do about garden pests including weeds and bugs that munch on our fruit. And bugs aren't the only things chowing down on what we are trying to grow. We have deer in our area of Texas.
